Known Issues

Please read the following information as it may contain a solution to the problem you are having.

This service is known to have problems with some browsers. It should work as expected with Firefox and Internet Explorer.

There is an issue with the security setting in IE7. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security and un-select TLS1.0

If you are behind a firewall, you must have port 8009 open in order to use the system.

If you have problems accessing the service while running a personal firewall, please disable this (briefly) and try accessing without the firewall. IT Services cannot provide help or advice if it is suspected that your firewall may be blocking your access.

If you are using any kind of proxy service, then you must be able to make an SSL (secure) connection on port 8009. Note that many broadband service providers force you to use their proxy service. If the proxy does not allow SSL connections on port 8009 you will be unable to connect.

If you are accessing the service from a corporate network, please consult your local network administrator before contacting IT Services. It may be that there are local policies in force to prevent you accessing this service.

The security certificate is signed by the University of Salford. Your browser will probably not recognise us as a trusted signer. You may need to adjust your security settings so that your browser prompts you to accept unknown certificates.
